My youngest daughter just returned from a 2 week trip to Missouri and Kansas. And she had this random story to share.
When she arrived at her destination and began unpacking her suitcase, she found this in her suitcase.
Only problem was, there wasn’t the other one. And the bigger problem, actually a problem for someone else, was that this isn’t her shoe. It belongs to someone else! Airport Security got a little distracted, or bored and wanted to have some fun at someone else’s expense.
So if you know of anyone who was traveling on June 16 and was at the airport in Grand Rapids, Detroit or Kansas City, and is missing the left mate of the above half pair of shoes, let us know. We’d be happy to reunite the couple.
The point of this story ~ not much, other than maybe it’s a good idea to tie, velcro or buckle our shoes together so both arrive at the same destination. Of course, then this could be carried that a bit further to figure out how to connect all pieces of clothing: put a string through each piece of clothing or at least through those pieces we want to be sure arrive at the same place we land. And then we could write notes, silly, sly or otherwise, for the secrity folks. And then we could…..
What random traveling story do you have in your bag??
Cathleen
Hmm, odd! I’ve never had anything like this happen. But the ape-bouncing on the “indestructible” name-brand luggage commercials of the past isn’t the reality. I’ve last wheels and had the bottom hinge almost torn off, thanks to the handlers at airports.
My traveling stories are more the blessings of protections…flying TWA just a month after a major hi-jacking, flying out of the Frankfurt airport just a couple of months before the bombing, staying in the Dupont Plaza Hotel in San Juan not long before the devastating fire, flying another airline after a serious incident, being in Tallinn just days before the coup…and 4 km away in Finland during it, but not knowing about it until I returned home. A US headline made front page Helsinki news, but not one iota on the coup as it was happening!
Good luck with finding the owner!
Karla, I would certainly call your experiences “blessings of protection!” May that guardian angel continue to travel with you.
Blessings, Cathleen
