2nd Sunday of Pentecost, Pine Island Presbyterian Church
Once again it was the Worship Arts Table and the music that spoke to me. I wish there were more Sundays when red is used; we stretched it a bit to have 2 red Sundays of Pentecost which I enjoyed. So the red spilled off the table, pouring the Spirit into our lives and hearts as the dove hovered above us.
As we did last week, we sang with a sense of energy and intent. Or maybe we were receiving as we sang. Whatever, whoever is was, it was gift. I’m gonna sing when the Spirit says sing…” Lately I have felt from deep within the call to sing and this reminds me of the word “imbolc” which means “in the belly.” Christine, at Abbey of the Arts, introduced me to this word back in February when spring was just starting to make itself known in Seattle. So our choir’s anthem this past Sunday, “I’m Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing” helped me begin to claim what the Spirit is calling forth from within. And it hasn’t felt very subtle ~ it’s more like the red fabric that flows from the dove and spills off the table, as if it cannot be contained.
As we move through the season of Pentecost and move closer to the beginning of summer, may you hear the call of the Spirit from deep within. And may the abundance of the season flourish within you!
With a song in my heart, Cathleen
