Hello there, and welcome!
I sit about 100 feet from the house, observing through my windows the comings and goings of the folk who live there. I’m especially interested in the Alchemist – the one who seems driven to take the common and transform it to something precious or sacred. She ponders this alot, and often. And I feel her soul drawn to me, the old red barn in the back yard. She tells lots of people about me, she is eager to show me to guests and friends alike, and I hear her talk often about how she’d like to raise egg-laying chickens (no butchering for her!) in the southeast corner of my quarters.
I sense that she and I will have interesting conversations in this blog. But you know, you usually have to travel back roads and take the slower route to really see a barn, and I hear she’s been traveling the back roads for quite a while. We’ll have a lot to share with each other…
Blessings from the barn!
WAHOO! I get to be the first person EVER to comment on your blog! I’m a lucky girl.
I’m delighted you’ve ventured into this way of exploring your Voice. I will come to sit in the barn often.
Happy Blog Birth Day to you,
Trish
And how grateful I am to have your Voice in my life! Many thanks! Cathleen

I’ve never had a birthday in October ~ I kind of like this! Thanks ever so much, from both the barn and myself! Love, Cathleen
Hi Cathleen, I got your new blog address through Trish’s blog and I am delighted to see you creating a space for yourself! I love the simplicity of this template, were you able to add the photo yourself above? Welcome to the blog world, I look forward to reading much more! Blessings, Christine
Hi Christine!
Yes, I put in the photo of the barn so that’s the actual barn I go to sit in! It took me quite a while but I was determined. Now I’m trying to figure out the “about” page – I think I’m entering info but nothing shows up. Any hints? You and Trish and my daughter (Mulberry Dreamer) have inspired me to give this a try. Now I’m eager to hear about your time away. Blessings, Cathleen
I’m not sure if your dashboard is the same as mine but either click on “write” and then “write page” or under “manage” and then “pages” you can click on “create a new page.” Make sure you hit publish. If its not working you may want to contact support, I find them to be pretty responsive.
Actually one more thought, I just realized WordPress has already created an About page, you need to go in and edit it which is different than creating something new. Check your dashboard under “manage.”
MORE LATER
i’m honored to be related to you! incredible thoughts – always you have incredible writings – beauty in expressing.
so far i’ve only read your first.
Hi Cathleen, For some reason when I hit comments on your latest post it shows me the comments from a previous post, so I am not sure where this will end up. No matter, I love your exploration of thyme in all of its varieties, what a wonderful garden full of potent metaphors!
Blessings, Christine
Hi Christine, I contacted support about the comments and was told that this is a problem with this particular theme that they’re working on. When I have more sitting thyme I’ll try a different theme, again. Much of life is about thyme, isn’t it ~ how we lean into it, resist it, tend it, learn from it, expand into it as you so beautifully wrote of. Blessings to you! Cathleen
Cathleen, thanks for sharing this lovely story about the significance of the Red Barn, I can see it so clearly now, a holy place indeed.
As I stood outside with Eli, early this morning, the stars were wonderfully bright, no wind-cold silence; then the next trip, the sun was just beginning to light the horizon; I am reminded that each day is a blessing from above. I rejoice in our friendship that has grown over the years. Blessings to you as you explore a new way to let your soul sing. Sandy
Christine, The story helped me understand the significance of the barn in ways I had not realized.
Sandy, For 13 years we have known each other! And the “circle of friends” candle holder you gave me several years ago is so symbolic ~ thank you!
Blessings to each of you!
Cathleen
On this journey I re-membered my childhood in the Upper Peninsula where I was allowed and encouraged to sit on a tree stump in the woods and to snuggle in between two giant birch trees on a cement block that some wise family elder had placed there for just that purpose. There, I listened to the birds, to the whisper of the tall pines to the quiet where our Creator and I could have blessed conversation. There I learned about prayer and meditation before I learned the memorized words.
I am grateful to my mom for allowing me to “be” and I’m grateful to Cathleen for reminding me of the strength and courage of women.
Your “dear and wise” friend.
XO
And I am grateful to be in the company of so many women of strength and courage!
Blessings, Cathleen
